About the Founder
Founded by Choti Skousen, Everest Designs is rooted in the mountains and communities of Nepal. Born and raised in Nepal within a Sherpa family, Choti works closely with women-led knitting cooperatives to create hand-knit winter skirts that support craftsmanship, community, and meaningful work behind every piece.

In a world of mass-produced winter apparel, Everest Designs stands apart with artisan-crafted women’s winter skirts that are as meaningful as they are warm. Known for hand-knit sweater skirts and mini skirts, Everest Designs creates cozy, comfortable pieces that transition seamlessly from après-ski to everyday winter wear.

Each skirt is hand knit using pure New Zealand wool and thoughtfully designed with a Lycra fabric liner to prevent clinging—making them easy to layer over leggings or base layers. The result is a winter skirt that feels warm, flattering, and effortless, whether you’re strolling the village, heading to dinner, or relaxing after a ski day.

Everest Designs partners with Himalayan Knitwear, a Nepalese women’s knitting cooperative made up of nearly 150 women. Using fair-trade, small-scale cottage manufacturing, the cooperative supports rural communities in Nepal’s Kathmandu Valley while preserving traditional craftsmanship and skills meant to last a lifetime.

Founded by Choti Skousen, who was born and raised in the mountains of Nepal within a Sherpa family, Everest Designs is deeply rooted in community and purpose. The brand is woven together with the people who create it—honoring the women behind every skirt and the traditions they carry forward.

As Choti says, “Inspiration comes from the men and women I work with in Nepal…”—and that inspiration is felt in every thoughtfully made piece.
