Serious Performance. Very Good Company.

Some skis develop a following. The Blizzard Black Pearl 88 practically has a fan club. This longtime best seller earns its reputation by delivering what so many women want: dependable edge hold, smooth handling, and enough versatility to follow a great morning of groomers with a few less predictable afternoon adventures.

At 88mm underfoot, the Black Pearl 88 balances quick edge changes on firm snow with a supportive platform for mixed resort conditions. It feels composed when you pick up speed, yet doesn’t require an aggressive approach to every turn. Whether you’re building confidence on steeper blues or laying down clean arcs on your favorite black run, this is a ski with plenty to offer.

The Technology Behind the Turns

Blizzard’s women’s-specific Trueblend All Mountain Woodcore blends denser beech underfoot with softer poplar toward the tips and tails. That puts support where you pressure the ski while allowing the ends to flex more progressively. Each length receives its own carefully tuned core, rather than simply using a shorter version of the same construction.

W.S.D. FluxForm All Mountain construction adds three strategically shaped pieces of Titanal to balance stability and maneuverability. The metal helps settle vibration and support confident edging without making the entire ski uniformly stiff. Translation: a reassuring ride when the snow gets less cooperative.

Early-rise tip and tail rocker help you enter and release turns, while 6mm of camber underfoot supplies grip and energy as you flex the ski. Full ABS sidewalls help transmit pressure to the edges for a precise, connected feel.

Designed With Women. Including Two of Our Own.

The Black Pearl 88 benefits from Blizzard Tecnica’s Women2Women program, which brings women’s experience directly into product development, testing, and refinement. Their feedback helps shape equipment that delivers the confidence, performance, and versatility women want on snow.

This connection is personal for us: outdoor DIVAS founder Kim Walker and managing partner Lauren Engle each participated in the women’s design group for a season. Listening to women and understanding what they need from their gear is something we’ve believed in from the beginning. We love seeing that same approach built into the products we carry.

Why You’ll Love It

  • An everyday sweet spot: The 88mm waist handles groomers, bumps, and mixed snow without feeling cumbersome edge to edge.

  • Confidence on firmer snow: Camber, Titanal reinforcement, and full sidewalls work together for dependable grip.

  • Support without constant demands: Cruise comfortably or put more energy into your turns as your confidence grows.

  • Thoughtful sizing: Six lengths, starting at 146cm, with a core tailored to each size.

  • Women involved from the start: Developed with input from Blizzard’s Women2Women team.

  • An award-winning reputation: Named Best Women’s Frontside Ski in SKI’s 2025 testing and included among Outside’s 2025 Editors’ Choice winners.
