Feeling active but not in the mood for a trail? Walk, run or bike the paved Beaver Creek Recreation Path from the Elk Lot at the base of the resort to Beaver Creek Village. The path climbs approximately 2.7 miles and gains more than 500 feet, making it a surprisingly good workout without venturing onto dirt. Benches and water fountains provide places to pause along the way, and you can reward yourself with lunch or a drink in the village before walking back down or catching the complimentary shuttle.

A Local’s Tips
Best Tree Skiing: On powder days, head for the trees around Larkspur Bowl or explore the glades in Bachelor Gulch. These areas often hold soft snow longer than some of the mountain’s more obvious powder stashes.
Parking and Transportation Tip: Arrive early if you plan to park in the Elk or Bear lots, then take the complimentary shuttle to Beaver Creek Village. Staying in Avon? Skip the car altogether. Free Avon Transit buses connect many hotels and neighborhoods with the Elk Lot, while the Riverfront Express Gondola at The Westin Riverfront provides scenic access to Beaver Creek Landing. Beaver Creek’s free Village Connect shuttle also makes it easy to travel between Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead.
Our Favorite Beaver Creek Day: Spend the morning exploring Bachelor Gulch, ski over toward Larkspur Bowl for the afternoon, then return to the village for a walk beneath the twinkling lights. For a truly memorable evening, reserve dinner at Beano’s Cabin, where the winter experience begins with a snowcat-pulled sleigh ride through the mountain.
Traveling with Kids? Beaver Creek is home to one of Colorado's top-rated ski schools, known for smaller class sizes, excellent instructors, and beginner-friendly progression terrain that helps young skiers build confidence.
Getting Around Beaver Creek and Avon
Beaver Creek and neighboring Avon are surprisingly easy to explore without a car.
Avon Transit offers free bus service throughout Avon, connecting hotels, restaurants, Nottingham Park, shopping areas and Beaver Creek Resort. Within the resort, the complimentary Village Connect shuttle provides on-demand transportation among Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead. Free shuttles also run between the Elk and Bear parking lots and Beaver Creek Village.
Traveling farther? CORE Transit connects Beaver Creek and Avon with Vail, Edwards and other communities throughout the valley. Most routes are free, including the winter Vail/Beaver Creek Express. With the gondola and several complimentary bus systems, visitors can stay in Avon or Beaver Creek and enjoy much of the valley without worrying about parking. Always check seasonal schedules and gondola operating dates before heading out.
