Founded by ski-obsessed entrepreneur Brad Peterson, Astis was born when Brad’s favourite pair of Cree-inspired mittens were chewed up by a family dog—and he couldn’t find anything that matched their warmth, craftsmanship or character. So he engineered his own line of leather, hand-beaded mittens built for serious mountain days.
He teamed with partner Charlie Brown and relocated the brand to the mountain-town of Minturn, Colorado, rooting design and production in a terrain-driven community rather than a corporate studio.

Founded by passionate skiers who believe style and performance belong hand-in-hand, Astis crafts hand-stitched gloves and mittens that stand out for artistry, durability, and winter-ready warmth. Inspired by a vintage pair of Cree-style mittens and driven by the pursuit of the perfect fit, founder Brad Peterson launched Astis to bring that same level of craftsmanship to the modern mountain.

Each pair is made in the U.S.A., built from silicone-injected suede leather, lined with Polartec® High Loft insulation, and finished by hand with distinctive beadwork or cowhide trim. Every design reflects hours of skilled hand-stitching—some patterns created in collaboration with Indigenous artists, honoring the brand’s inspiration while ensuring each pair is truly one-of-a-kind.

Based in the mountain-town soul of Minturn, Colorado, tucked between Vail and Beaver Creek, Astis is rooted in authentic mountain culture. That terrain-driven heritage informs every design and speaks directly to women who ski like a girl and live for mountain style.
